The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani today visited Field Firing and Battle Inoculation exercises at Tilla Ranges (Jhelum). He witnessed troops engaged in various firing exercises as part of Army’s ‘Year of Training’ programme. He appreciated the professionalism, dedication and high spirits of the troops.

Earlier on arrival in the area, COAS was received by Corps Commander Gujranwala Lieutenant General Nadeem Taj.

1.     South Waziristan - Operation Rah-e-Nijat.   During last 24 hours, 5 terrorists were killed and 1 terrorist apprehended while 1 soldier embraced shahadat and 1 got injured. Details of operations are as follows:-

         a.   Jandola Sector.

              (1)   Security forces carried out sanitization at Partigai near Ahmadwam and Kazha Kats.

              (2)   Security forces cleared 30 compounds in area around Abdullah Nur Kaskai, Bangiwala and Aka Khel

                     Pungai.

        b.   Shakai Sector.

             (1)   Notables and administration of area assured complete cooperation and support to security forces for ongoing

                    operation against the terrorists.

            (2)   Security forces cleared Nanu and destroyed terrorists houses at Barwand including the house of terrorists

                   commander Wali ur Rehman. During encounter 1 soldier embraced shahadat and 1 soldier was injured at

                   Khassadar Ridge, while 5 terrorists were killed near Kaniguram.

            (3)   On expiry of dead line given to terrorists, Jirga destroyed the house of local terrorists commander Shabeeb

                   Khan in Shakkai.

       c.   Razmak Sector

           (1)   Security forces carried out search operation at village Marobi Raghozai near Makeen, Tara Tiza and

                  recovered one ammunition factory along with huge cache of arms ammunition.

           (2)   Security forces conducted clearance operation near Pash Ziarat and found a terrorists tunnel (50 feet long) and

                  10 bunkers.

           (3)   Security forces apprehended a suspect near Mana.

2.        Swat – Malakand – Operation Rah-e-Rast

          a.　　Security forces conducted search operation at Azad Banda near Sakhra and recovered 10 liters of

                     poisonous chemical along with 6 Kgs explosives.

         b.        Security forces apprehended 3 suspects at Pabbi, Dandai Sar near Fatehpur and Tilligram.

        c.         1 terrorist voluntarily surrendered himself to security forces at Roria near Gulibagh.

3.       Relief Activities.    20,976 Cash Cards have been issued to displaced families of Wazirsitan.
