ISPR UPDATE 8 JANUARY 2010
1. South Waziristan - Operation Rah-e-Nijat. Details of the operations of last 24 hours are as follows:-
a. Jandola Sector. Security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Tank, apprehended 2 suspected terrorists and recovered cache of arms and ammunition.
b. Shakai Sector
(1) Security forces conducted clearance operation around Tip Sar and Trikhi Kaburai near Gani Khel.
(2) Terrorists fired with small arms at security forces near Mazakai, Ghundi Gar and Pungai, Gani Khel and Sinetiza, resultantly 1 soldier embraced shahadat.
c. Razmak Sector
(1) Security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Pira Khel near Mir Khoni, cleared 20 compounds and recovered cache of arms and ammunition.
(2) Terrorists fired with small arms at security forces near Spina Mela which was effectively responded.
2. Swat Malakand Operation Rah-e-Rast.
a. Security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Khawazakhela and Manglour Bridge, Allahaba, Dakorak, Kot, Tangai Chena (Charbagh), Bari Kot and Sherkhana, apprehended 10 suspected terrorists along with arms and ammuniton.
b. 4 terrorists surrendered themselves to security forces at Waliabad, Gokhela and Bhai Kalle.
3. Relief Activities.
a. 28,506 Cash Cards have been issued to displaced families of Waziristan.
b. So far, 9,164 tons of rations have also been distributed amongst the displaced families of Wazirsitan.
