ISPR UPDATE – 9 JANUARY 2010

1.　　　　　　　　 South Waziristan - Operation Rah-e-Nijat.　　 Details of the operations of last 24 hours are as follows:-
a.　　　　　　　　Jandola Sector.
(1) Security forces carried out search and clearance operation at Ahmad Wam and Shisamwan, recovered cache of arms and ammunition.
b. 　　　　　　Shakai Sector
(1) Security forces carried out sanitization and consolidation of their positions at Mazakai and Sherkai.

c.　　　　　　　　Razmak Sector
(1) Security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Pash Zairat, cleread 41 compounds and recovered cache of arms and ammunition.
(2) Security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Marobi Raghazai, cleread 64 compounds and recovered cache of arms and ammunition.

2. 　　　　　 Swat – Malakand – Operation Rah-e-Rast.
a. Security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Chuprail, Mingora and Dargai and apprenhended 7 suspected terrorists.
b. 4 terrorists surrendered themselves to security forces at Bahraini, Shadhand Banda and Kankavi.

3. Relief Activities.
a. 28,651 Cash Cards have been issued to displaced families of Waziristan.

Rawalpindi - January 9, 2010:

Pakistan Army has won the National Taekwondo Championship organized by Punjab taekwondo Association at Rahim Yar Khan. Total 40 teams participated in the championship including Army, WAPDA, Islamabad, NWFP, Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Police, AJK and FATA. Overall positions are as follows:-

Pakistan Army - 1^st

WAPDA - 2^nd

Punjab-A - 3^rd

Police - 4^th
