She was grazing animals when hit by a bullet. ::

ISPR UPDATE 11 JANUARY 2010

1.         South Waziristan - Operation Rah-e-Nijat.   Details of the operations of last 24 hours are as follows:-
a.       Jandola Sector. Security forces carried out search and clearance operation at Shiekh Yousaf Adda and apprehended 2 suspected terrorists. 3 IEDs were diffused in Kund area.

b.       Shakai Sector     
(1) Security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Maiol, Sukai, Laghar Sar and recovered cache of arms and ammunition.
(2)     Security forces cleared area around Katori Sar including Jangwam. 8 terrorists were killed during encounter with security forces.

c.       Razmak Sector      Terrorists fired with small arms on a check post at Pash Zairat, resultantly 1 soldier embraced shahadat and 3 were injured.

2.       Swat Malakand Operation Rah-e-Rast

a.      Security forces conducted search and clearance   operation at  Sar near Tilligram, Gishar, Jaikot, Devolai, Aboha near Barikot and apprenhended 6 suspected terrorists
b.      4 terrorists voluntarily surrendered to security forces at Khawazakhela and Shalhand near Derai.

3.         Relief Activities.      29,263 Cash Cards have been issued to displaced families of Waziristan.

Mrs Elke Hoff, member of German Parliaments Defence Committee and Sub Committee on Disarmament, Arms Control and Non Proliferation called on General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Army Staff at General Headquarters today.

The delegation remained with the Chief of Army Staff for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest.

Rawalpindi - January 11, 2010: 

An eight member United Arab Emirates (UAE) delegation headed by Major General Mubarak Salem Al Rada Al Mazrouei, Commander UAE Land Forces currently visiting Pakistan in Connection with 1st Pak-UAE Defence Cooperation Committee (DCC) meeting; called on General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) at Joint Staff Headquarters, Chaklala and discussed regional security situation, matters pertaining to bilateral cooperation and other aspects of mutual interest.

Chairman JCSC highlighted the enduring bonds of friendship between the UAE and Pakistan and stated that Pakistan values its relations with UAE and espouses expanded cooperation in all fields, especially the defence sector. CJCSC also underscored the importance of establishing an institutionalised mechanism for maintaining close defence linkages on regular basis between the two Armed Forces.

Earlier on arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters the delegation attended 1st Pak-UAE DCC meeting, matters pertaining to enhancement of defence cooperation were discussed at length. The DCC meeting was co-chaired by Lieutenant General Sardar Mahmood Ali Khan leading the Pakistani side whereas Major General Mubarak Salem Al Rada Al Mazrouei led the UAE delegation.
