Lahore - January 16, 2010: 

Pakistan Army is single minded in its professional pursuits and totally focused and motivated in accomplishment of its core mission. This was stated by Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, during address to the officers of Lahore Garrison. He also dilated upon the important issues related to operations and training. During his visit he also approved launching of new phase of DHA, planned to provide residential plots to Junior Commissioned Officers and Havildars of Pakistan Army. This is in line with the Army’s policy to acknowledge their sacrifices and provide them better quality of life.

Later, COAS also attended the inauguration of CMH Lahore Medical College, performed by the Prime Minister. A large number of serving and retired officers also attended the event. On arrival at Lahore, COAS was received by Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Ijaz Ahmed Bakhshi.

A suicide bomber blasted himself near security forces vehicle at Dothan, Khai Gala near Rawalakot today. Resultantly two soldiers got injured who have been evacuated to CMH Rawalakot and being treated.

ISPR UPDATE – 16 JANUARY 2010

1.         South Waziristan - Operation Rah-e-Nijat.   Details of the operations of last 24 hours are as follows:-

a.       Jandola Sector.
(1) Terrorists fired with small arms and rockets at security forces check post near Ahmedwam, which was effectively responded.
(2) Security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Hassan Khel, Bannu, apprehended 2 suspected terrorists and recovered cache of arms and ammunition.
b.     Shakai Sector.       Security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Kaniguram, Sultana and recovered cache of arms and ammunition.

c.       Razmak Sector     
(1) Terrorists fired rockets on a check post near Pash Ziarat, which was efffectivley responded.
(2)
Security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Tora Tiza near Makeen and cleared 16 compounds.

2.       Swat – Malakand – Operation Rah-e-Rast.       

a.       Security forces conducted search and clearance  operation at Jabrai Chinkolai near Khawazakhela, Gidar Sar near Shangla, Shin Bargane, Shalun near Shalpin, Chungai near Than and apprenhended 6 suspected terrorists
b.      Security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Tatai, Yakhtangi Kandao near Malam Jabba, Malam, Gut Paiza, Asharai and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.
c. 1 terrorist voluntarily surrendered to security forces at Zarra Khela.

3.         Relief Activities.    29,831 Cash Cards have been issued to displaced families of Waziristan.

Rawalpindi - January 16, 2010: 

 1.        Some seats are' reserved in VI in Cadet College Jajja, Teh Gujar Khan, Dist Rawalpindi for admission of children of Army personnel. Children of Army personnel fulfilling following admission criteria are eligible for admission against Army reserved seats. Desirous wards of Army personnel to forward applications to GHQ W&R Dte/WR-4 on GHQ application forms by 14 Feb2010:-

a.        Eligibility

(1)                      Qual.   Candidates should have passed Cl-V.

(2)          Age.   Not under 10 yrs and over 11 yrs of age on 1 Apr 2010.

(3)          Entrance Test.    Candidates will be req to appear in two written tests i.e. an int test fol by a comb test for English, Ucdu, Math and General Science. All the tests will take place on the same day. The Entry test will be held at college premises on 14 Feb 2010 at 0900 hours.

(4)          Submission of applications by the candidates direct to the College for selection on open merit is mandatory. Therefore, all candidates desirous of admission against Army reserved seats must apply to the College on their application form otherwise their admission case- against Army reserved seats will not be considered.

b.       Final Sel.      Only those candidates who qual written test will be called for
interview. Sel candidates will be med examined. Only those candidates, who are
found med FIT will be considered for admission.

c.       Fee Structure

(1)      The fee for Boarders incl tuition, dining and lodging is Rs: 8000.00 pm and
fee for Day Scholars is Rs:4500.00 pm (incl funds). At the time of
admission fol addl charges will be paid :-

(a)           Admission Fee             - Rs: 15,000.00

(b)           Security                         - Rs:   8,000.00

(2)     The College has agreed to provide fee concession to those wards, who
will be sel on army reserved seats. The boarder students will pay
Rs: 4000.00 pm.   Similarly Day Scholars will pay Rs: 2000.00 pm.
