Over 1200 Brethren from South Waziristan Agency Returned Home
In phase one more than 1200 dislocated persons have returned from IDP’s Camps at Dera Ismail Khan and Tank to their homes in South Waziristan Agency.
In phase one which started on 4 Dec 2010 return of dislocated people from areas of Spinkai, Raghazi, Chagmalai, Mandana, Ghana Khuch, Noui Katch and Shiekh Ziarat will be completed. Pakistan Army in collaboration with Civil administration is providing all administrative support including cooked food and medical facilities to the dislocated people in IDP’s Camps. Convoy of displaced persons back to homes are being escorted by security forces.
It may be mentioned that before return to their homes, Tribal elders/Maliks from South Waziristan Agency visited their areas and expressed satisfaction on the general security conditions and arrangements made by Political Administration and Army for their safe and dignified return.
Most of essential services including electricity, water and roads in the areas of return (in villages i.e., Chagmalai, Spinkai, Raghzai and Mandana) have been restored. Pakistan Army in collaboration with FATA Secretariat has prepared a comprehensive Quick Impact development plan for the Agency. The rehabilitation phase of all public sector infrastructure and facilities is expected to commence shortly. However, services like, health and education have been made functional in temporary accommodations where required.
UBL has made arrangements for installation of point of sales (POS) machines and credits of funds for cash grant to the returning dislocated persons. Registration for South Waziristan Resident Facilitation Cards is in progress and so far more than 45,000 cards have been prepared.
