Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited Muzaffargarh Ranges, today, to witness ongoing training activities of Army Air Defence units.
The day’s activities involved live firing of several air defence weapons on the inventory of Pakistan Army. These included short range Surface to Air Missiles, shoulder fired weapons and Anti Aircraft guns. COAS appreciated the standards displayed by the weapon crews of different units of Army Air Defence. He emphasized the importance of air defence in today’s warfare and the need to remain abreast with modern requirements as regards up-gradation of equipment, as well as training, to defeat a wide threat spectrum.
Earlier on arrival at Multan, COAS was received by Corps Commander Multan, Lieutenant General Shafqaat Ahmed.

General Wang Xibin, President of Chinese National Defence University called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. Matter related to mutual cooperation and different exchange programmes came under discussion. Visiting Dignitary aspired to further enhance the already existing cordial relations.
 Later H.E Dr Michael Koch, Ambassador of Germany on his farewell call also paid a visit to General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, here at Joint Staff Headquarters.

On behalf of the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, conferred Civil Awards to eminent Scientists and Engineers working in Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Dr A Q Khan Research Laboratory, National Engineering & upper Atmosphere Research Commission, for their meritorious services at the investiture ceremony held at JSHQ on 29 Mar 2012. 18 officials received President’s Award for Pride of Performance, 03 officials received Tamgha-i-Imtiaz and 01 official received Sitara-i-Imtiaz.
