Karachi - April 30, 2008: 

Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, visited Malir Cantonment and witnessed troops engaged in routine training activities. He appreciated the high morale and standard of training of all ranks. Later, Chief of Army Staff visited the Air War College, Karachi and addressed the participants of Air War Course.

Lieutenant General Ahsan Azhar Hayat, Corps Commander also accompanied the Chief of Army Staff during the visit.

Gilgit - April 30, 2008: 

Lieutenant General Mohsin Kamal, Corps Commander Rawalpindi was installed as Colonel Commandant of the Northern Light Infantry Regiment in a simple and impressive ceremony held at Northern Light Infantry Centre Bunji , Gilgit.

Lieutenant General (Retired) Safdar Hussain and Brigadier Liaquat Hayat, Commandant Northern Light Infantry Centre pinned the badges of rank onto the shoulders of Lieutenant General Mohsin Kamal to formally install him as Colonel Commandant of the Northern Light Infantry Regiment. Later he also launched the "Northern Light Ingantry", a book written by Lieutenant Colonel Ghulam Jilani (Retired) on historical perspective of the Regiment.

The Corps Commander laid a floral wreath on "Yaadgar-e-Shahuda" and offered fateha, a smartly turned – out contingent of Northern Light Infantry presented guard of honour. Lieutenant General Mohsin Kamal also inaugurated the Quarter Guards of the Centre.

The ceremony was attended by Commander Force Command Northern Areas, Major General Muzammail Hussain and a large number of serving and retired Army officers, junior commissioned officers and men of the Northern Light Infantry Regiment.
