Update Operation (Rah- e- Rast) 5th October 2009

1.      Search and clearance operations are continuing in Swat and Malakand.

2.      Swat

a.      Security forces conducted search operation at Baqi Banda and Dhand and apprehended 10 terrorists.

b.      5 terrorists voluntarily surrendered to security forces at Darmai, Bar Shaur and Alamganj.

c.       Security forces conducted search operation at Aligrama and apprehended 1 terrorist.

d.      Security forces conducted search operation at Mingora and apprehended the relatives of terrorist commander Fateh.

3.      Waziristan

a.      Terrorists fire raided with rockets and small arms on security forces at Razmak camp, resultantly 4 soldiers were injured.

b.      Terrorists fired raided with rockets at Wana check post, which was effectively responded by security forces.

NATIONAL SECURITY WORKSHOP - 10

              A five week long National Security Workshop started on Monday at National Defence University, Islamabad. About seventy five participants including Senators, MNA, MPA, Nazims and distinguished members from various segments of society both from public and private sector are participating in this workshop. The aim of this workshop is to acquaint policy makers with the process and methodology of formulating the National Polices and Strategies through and institutionalized approach.

        During the workshop eminent guest speakers from various disciplines will speak on issues of National Security.

          Major General Azhar Ali Shah, Director General Institute for Strategic Studies Research and Analysis welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance and scope of the National Security Workshop.
