Rawalpindi - October 9, 2009: 

1.     Search and clearance operations are continuing in Swat and Malakand.

2.     Swat

         a.     11 suspected terrorists voluntarily surrendered themselves to security forces in Hazara near Kabbal.

         b.     A terrorist, brother of terrorist commander Yousaf voluntarily surrendered to security forces at 

                 Piochar.

        c.     Security forces conducted search operation at Mangaltan and found 8 tunnels used by terrorists. Tunnels

                destroyed by security forces.

        d.     Security forces conducted search operation at Banjot and Kasona near Malamjaba and killed 6 terrorists.

3.      Waziristan

        a.     An IED blast took place near security forces check post at Mana, North Wazirsitan Agency, resultantly

               1 soldier embraced shahadat while 3 were injured. In retaliatory fire 2 terrorists (Uzbeks) were killed.

        b.    Terrorists fired 24 rockets at Razmak and Kabutar check post of security forces, resultantly 4 soldiers

                were injured.

4.      Darra Adam Khel, (DAK).    Security forces apprehended a disabled civilian suicide bomber at security forces 

check post near Darra Adam Khel.

5.    Bannu.   Malik Said Ali, head of Bakka Khel Peace Committee was targeted in an IED blast but he remained unhurt.

Bahawalpur - October 9, 2009: 

     

Contingent of Pakistan Army comprising Armour, mechanized infantry and Artillery left Bahawalpur Airport for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to take part in a joint military exercises "Al-Samsaam-3" (Sharp Sword) with Royal Saudi Land Forces (RSLF) today. Three week long exercise "Al-Samsaam-3" starting from 10th of this month is a sequel to the series of exercises which are regularly carried out from time to time between the two Armed Forces. These exercises are planned with a view to enhance combat efficiency, mutual cooperation and understanding between the two Armed Forces. The contingent was seen off by General Officer Commanding Major General Nadeem Ijaz at the airport.

Pakistani contingent wins the 17th Inter Sector Volley Ball Championship in Sudan

Pakistani contingent working under the aegis of United Nations Peace Keeping Missions in Sudan won the 17th Inter Sector Volley Ball Championship held at Wau, Sudan.

Teams of Military contingents including Pakistan, India, China, Kenya, Egypt and Zambia participated in the tournament.

In the Final match, Pakistan beat Kenya by 3-1 goals. Rundown of events is as under:-
