Commander Turkish Armed Forces Visits Swat
General IIkar BASBUG, Commander Turkish Armed Forces alongwith delegation visited Mingora, Swat today. Delegation was briefed about Army’s successful operation in Swat. The Commander Turkish Armed Forces appreciated the morale and courage of soldiers and officers of Pakistan Armed Forces who gave sacrifices during Operation Rah-e-Rast for brining peace and stability in the area. He also attended a function at a local school. The children presented tableau and sang special songs about Pakistani-Turkish friendship which were highly appreciated by the audience. General IIkar BASBUG is the first ever foreign head of Armed Forces to visit Swat. This speaks of the unique and deep rooted relationship enjoyed by the people and Armed Forces of the two brotherly countries.
Earlier, the delegation visited Corps Headquarters, Peshawar and called on Corps Commander Lieutenant General Muhammad Masood Aslam. The visiting dignitaries remained with Corps Commander for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest. Delegation was also informed about the massive uplift and development activities being undertaken by Pakistan Army in the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA).
