Lieutenant Colonel Syed Imran Haider who was seriously injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in North Wazirstan on 9th June embraced "Shahadat" on 18 June 2013 in Combined Military Hospital Peshawar. :: Roshni Begum resident of village Sawana Rajadini got injured due to Indian troops unprovoked firing at Karela Sector on 18 June 2013 at 1645 hrs. She was grazing animals when hit by a bullet. ::

Rawalpindi - October 26, 2009: 

 

1. South Waziristan - Operation Rah-e-Nijat

a. In last 24 hours, 19 terrorists have been killed during security forces operation in SWA. Security forces losses are 6 soldiers shaheed and 20 injured. Details of operations are as follows:-

(1) On Jandola Sararogha Axis

(a) Security forces moved forward of Kotkai and secured important Road Y junction at Kazhakas the roads leading to Inzar Kalle and Sararogha. The dominating ridges east and west of this Road Y junction have been secured.
(b) Security forces also secured Gharlai village on main road Kotkai-Sararogha and the adjoining ridges. During engagement, 10 terrorists were killed while 6 soldiers embraced shahadat and 14 were injured.

(2) On Shakai - Kaniguram Axis
(a) After securing of Chalwastai the village has been completely cleared and forces moved forward. Forces have surrounded village Sarwek 1 km north of Chalwastai and taken control of surrounding ridges. The complete area has been cleared of terrorists and clearance operation to remove mines, IEDs and booby traps is under way.
(b) During engagements, north of Sarwek village 7 terrorists have been killed while 5 soldiers got injured.
(3) Razmak. Security forces secured Shaga feature and Sharakai Sar in Nawazkot area. These heights dominate Road Nawazkot- Makeen and area all around. 2 terrorists have been killed while 1 soldier got injured due to sniper fire at Sharakai Sar.

2. Hangu. Terrorists attacked on security forces Asif Shaheed Check Post at Torwarai area, Doaba, Hangu, resultantly, 1 soldier embraced shahadat and 4 were injured. 15 terrorists were killed by security forces.

 3. Swat - Malakand - Operation Rah-e-Rast
a. On 25 October 2009 curfew was imposed from Alam Ganj to Shangla for one day only to avert any loss of life after information regarding a potential suicide bomber.
b. 1 terrorist voluntarily surrendered to security forces at Matta.
c. Security forces conducted search operation at Kalam, Barhain, Nawakilli and Manglour and apprehended 12 suspects including 7 Afghan nationals.

4. Relief Activities
a. Two medical camps are being established for displaced families of Waziristan at Rata Kolachi Staduim-DI Khan and Tank. The existing basic health units are also being upgraded.
b. 7,012 cash cards have been distributed amongst the displaced families of Waziristan.
c. 1.3 million rupees have been withdrawn by the displaced families of Waziristan.
d. Army helpline 0996-740439 at D I Khan has been established for complaints and donations.

An impressive Passing out parade of 120th PMA Long Course, 16th Technical Graduate Course, 39th Integrated Course and 5th Lady Cadet Course was held at Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul. Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman was the chief guest on the occasion.

Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said that Pakistan is presently passing through a very difficult phase. We are faced with threats of militancy and extremism but with the unity of our people, we shall overcome the challenges and prevail over our enemies. The magnitude of these complex and diversified threats demand from leaders of men, like you, to stand up to them with the strength of character and professional competence.

Chief of Air Staff reiterated that we are a peace loving nation and have no aggressive designs against any other nation. Owing to our peculiar security environment we can not lower our guard. He said that we value our freedom and independence more than any thing else and consider no sacrifice too great to preserve our freedom and honour. To achieve this we would continue our endeavours to build credible defence and deterrence. PAF shall continue to undertake joint operations alongside the land forces to achieve our national objectives.

While advising the passing out cadets Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said that the glorious traditions of selfless services, devotion to duty and loyalty to the national cause are the hall mark of our Armed Forces.

Earlier, the Chief of Air Staff reviewed the smartly turned out parade and awarded medals. The coveted Sword of Honour was awarded to Battalion Senior Under Officer Muhammad Usman Nazir from 120th PMA Long Course, The Presidents Gold Medal to Academy Senior Under Officer Muhammad Fahad Sadiq from 120th PMA Long Course, the Chief of Army Staff Overseas Gold Medal to Allied Under Officer Bader Hamad Ebrahim Al-Wazan of 120th PMA Log Course from Bahrain, Chief of Army Staff Cane for the best cadet of Technical Graduate Course 16th was awarded to Course under Officer Muhammad Waqas Alam, the Commandants Cane for the best cadet of Integrated course 39th was awarded Course Under Officer Malik Muhammad Wasim. The Commandant Cane for the best cadet of Lady Cadets Course 5th was awarded to Course Under Officer Mamoona Hassan Usmani.

Major General Raheel Sharif, Commandant Pakistan Military Academy was also present on the saluting dais. A large number of senior serving and retired armed forces officers, parents of cadets, foreign diplomats and relatives of graduating cadets witnessed the spectacular parade.
