  • Disallowing the transportation of CAN and other such fertilizers to be moved in FATA and Balochistan.
  • Fertilizer control regime introduced and implemented by the FATA Secretariat.
  • Increased number of troops on border outposts to minimize possibility of cross-border smuggling of CAN.

Rawalpindi - October 27, 2009: 

 

1. South Waziristan - Operation Rah-e-Nijat

a. Security forces are steadily progressing on all three axes and clearing the area. In last 24 hours, 42 terrorists have been killed during security forces operation in SWA and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition. Security forces losses are 1 soldier Shaheed and 2 were injured. Details of operations are as follows:-
(1) On Jandola – Sararogha Axis
(a) Security forces cleared village Zeriwam and dominating hill features along east and west ridges on main Axis Jandola - Sararogha. The dominating ridges around the main Road and village Ganra Kas (west of main road) and Konar Height (east of the road) have also been fully secured. Security forces are conducting search and clearance operations in secured areas.
(b) Security forces have completed sanitization of Garlai. During engagement, 5 terrorists were killed while 1 soldier embraced Shahadat.

(2) On Shakai - Kaniguram Axis

(a) Security Forces have cleared area along road Sherwangi-Ladha axis up till road track junction. Forces have moved forward ahead of Chalwastai on road Shakai-Kaniguram and have reached in the suburbs of Kund Mela-Momekaram.
(b) The area has been cleared of terrorists and search & clearance operation to remove mines, IEDs and booby traps is under way.
(c) During engagements, 7 terrorists were killed.

(3) Razmak- Makeen Axis
(a) Security forces have surrounded Nawazkot and are dominating the important ridges ahead of Nawazkot. Forces also regained control of old FC Post at Nawazkot and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from the area.
(b) Security forces effectively engaged terrorists positions at Pakallita Sar, Manza Sar, Green Ridge, Lahgar Narai, Zar-e-Sar Base, China and Makeen. During engagement reportedly 30 terrorists have been killed.
(c) Forces cleared Tip Ghar, Pt 6813 and Laghar Narai and consolidation is under way. During the search operation huge cache of arms and ammunition have also been recovered.
(d) Terrorists fired 2 rockets at Razmak Camp resultantly 2 soldiers were injured.

2. Swat - Malakand - Operation Rah-e-Rast
a. 8 terrorists voluntarily surrendered to security forces at Miandam, Sarsanai and Fizaghat.
b. Security forces conducted search operation at Sam Shin, Sambat Cham and discovered 2 tunnels (15 meters wide and 30 meters long) at Mian Killi and also apprehended 3 suspects.

3. Relief Activities
a. 7,025 cash cards have been distributed amongst the displaced families of Waziristan.
c. 5.3 million rupees have been withdrawn by the displaced families of Waziristan.
d. Army helpline 0996-740439 at D I Khan has been established for complaints and donations.
