  • Pakistan’s Counter-IED Organization established to formulate policies and ensure implementation.
  • Tight control over explosive, detonators and others IEDs-related material by the Ministry of Industry.
  • Banning the export of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN) and other chemical based fertilizers with issuance of NOCs to authorized dealers only.
  • Disallowing the transportation of CAN and other such fertilizers to be moved in FATA and Balochistan.
  • Fertilizer control regime introduced and implemented by the FATA Secretariat.
  • Increased number of troops on border outposts to minimize possibility of cross-border smuggling of CAN.

Rawalpindi - November 7, 2009: 

 

1. South Waziristan - Operation Rah-e-Nijat. In last 24 hours, 12 terrorists have been killed and 5 soldiers including 2 officers were injured. Details of operations are as follows:-
a. On Jandola – Sararogha Axis
(1) Security forces are consolidating their positions at Sararogha and surrounding heights.
(2) Expansion of perimeter of security being undertaken. During clearance of compound in north of Sararogha, 4 terrorists hiding in the compound have been killed.
b. On Shakai – Kaniguram Axis
(1) Security forces are consolidating their positions in all the areas secured so far. Extensive search operations are underway at Ladha and surrounding areas.
(2) Huge quantity of arms and ammunition are being recovered from different areas.
(3) At Tiarza a 30 feet long tunnel along with plenty of ammunition has been discovered and destroyed.
(4) Security forces conducted search operation at Topparghai, Siga and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition.
(5) Terrorist fired rockets at security forces check post at Lundai Nur. As a result 2 soldiers got injured.

c. On Razmak- Makeen Axis
(1) Security forces are in the process of securing Makeen. Today eastern edge of Makeen is being cleared. During engagements a fleeing vehicle with terrorists on board was engaged and destroyed while 8 terrorists were killed.
(2) During clearance operation 3 soldiers including 2 officers got injured due to terrorists fire.
(3) Huge quantity of arms and ammunition has been recovered from different compounds of Makeen.

2. Swat – Malakand – Operation Rah-e-Rast
a. Security forces apprehended 8 terrorists from Batkhela, Daukadoa, Mingora and Udigram during routine search operation.
b. A terrorist voluntarily surrendered to security forces at Daukadoa.

3. Relief Activities
a. 8,338 Cash Cards have issued to displaced families of Waziristan.
b. Army Field Hospital has treated over 3,000 patients at Dera Ismail Khan.
