Rawalpindi - September 6, 2010: 

The entire nation alongwith Armed Forces celebrated the Defence Day of Pakistan with simplicity but renewed pledge to defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan, at all cost. Armed Forces pledged all kinds of support in rescue and relief operations at this occasion.

Defence Day of Pakistan dawned with prayers in Army Units, Naval Establishments and Air Force Bases for the progress and prosperity of the country. Special Dua was offered for the eternal peace of the Shuhada, who laid down their lives in defence of the country. The special messages of the Services Chiefs were read out to the troops of Army, Navy and Air Force.

Wreath Laying ceremonies were held at the Graves and Monuments of the recipients of the Nishan-e-Haider, the country’s, highest gallantry award. A large number of people belonging to various walks of life attended the ceremonies to pay homage to the brave sons of soil who demonstrated indomitable courage and valour in defence of the motherland.

Brigadier Iftikhar Ayub Khan, Station Commander Jhelum laid a floral wreath and offered fateha at the grave of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, the first recipient of the coveted Nishan-e-Haider who embraced Shahadat at Tilpatri (Azad Kashmir) in 1948.

Major General Muhammad Farrukh Rashid, General Officer Commanding laid a floral wreath at the Grave of Major Aziz Bhatti, Shaheed, in Ladian near Gujrat and offered fateha. Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed embraced Shahdat in 1965 at Burki, Lahore.

Major General Noel Israel Khokhar, General Officer Commanding laid a floral wreath and offered fateha at the monument of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed at Jhelum. Major Muhammad Akram embraced Shahdat at District Hilli in East Pakistan.

At Mehfoozabad, old Pind Malkan, Brigadier Muhammad Latif, Commandant Punjab Regimental Centre, laid a floral wreath at the Grave of Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed and offered fateha. Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland at Atari, Wagha border in 1971.

Brigadier Tariq Mehmood, Local Formation Commander, laid a floral wreath at the Grave of Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed at Dhoke Muhammad Hussain near Gujar Khan and offered fateha. Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland at Zafarwal Sector in 1971.

In a similar ceremony, Brigadier Ali Farhan, Local Formation Commander, laid a floral wreath at the Grave of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed and offered fateha. Captain Karnal Sher Khan embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland at Gultari Sector on the Line of Control in 1999.

Major General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Commander FCNA, laid floral wreath and offered fateha at the Grave of Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland on Line of Control in 1999.

A floral wreath ceremony was held at Nakial Sector to pay homage to Naik Saif Ali Shaheed, Hilal-e-Kashmir (equivalent to Nishan-e-Haider). Brigadier Khizer Sultan Raja, Local Formation Commander, laid a floral wreath and offered fateha.

The contingents of the respective Regimental Centers and Units of the Shuhada presented the salute as a mark of tribute for the epic action of their great warrior.

Rawalpindi - September 6, 2010: 

"Operation LABBAIK"

FWO after exhaustive efforts of forty day troops of FWO have opened KKH for light traffic on Sunday. 4 major bridges, which were washed away have been repaired including Dubair Bridge.

The Dubair Bridge on KKH which destroyed on 27 July has been reopened. More than 150 soldiers of FWO relentlessly to complete the bridge.

Pakistan Army Troops have evacuated 43 critically standard people through helicopters to safer places and other 2,644 people from various flood hit areas of Jati, Mehar, Johi Shah, Shahdad Kot and Sajawal. Army has established 25 relief camps in Sindh. 33,047 people were provided cooked food and 24 tons of rations were distributed among the flood affected people in Sindh in last 24 hours.

Army Engineers have plugged the breaches in Jampur and Rojhan flood protection bund. 12 filter plants and 94 Roti plants have been installed in relief camps in Southern Punjab.

Army Engineers have opened the roads in Dera Murad Jamali, Mangoli, Goth Jani, Ahmed Pur, Dolat Pur, Garhi Rahim Dad up to Thal for all types of traffic. Army Engineers in collaboration with Civil Administration have started bus services between Dera Allah Yar and Thal.

Army Medical Corps alongwith German Medical team established a Field Hospital in Usta Mohammad which is providing medical treatment and medicines to the stranded people of flood affected areas.

Army Field Hospitals and Mobile Medical Teams have provided medical treatment and medicine to over 35,000 affected people of Balochistan.

Five C-130 Aircrafts transported 62 tons of rations, tents, medicines, and relief goods to Quetta for further distribution at Dera Murad Jamali.
