Rawalpindi - December 14, 2016: 

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, COAS today visited Corps Headquarters and Rangers HQ Karachi. COAS was given detailed briefing about operational preparedness of the formation and security situation in Sindh particularly City of Karachi. Overall accomplishments of the operation so far and way forward remained the focus of briefing. COAS commended Army, Rangers, Law Enforcement Agencies and Intelligence Agencies for noticeable improvement in the law and order situation. He said that Karachi is economic hub of the country and security in the metropolitan has direct bearing on overall business climate and economic activity of the entire country. COAS emphasized that all out efforts will be made to consolidate gains made so far during operation and indiscriminately eliminate remnants of terrorists with their sleeper cells. General Qamar Javed Bajwa particularly lauded support and sacrifices of people of Karachi in this journey towards peace. He said gains of operations will not be allowed to be reversed and the operations will continue till attainment of sustainable peace. He directed a focused and synergised effort of all military and civil intelligence agencies for optimum effects to pre-empt potential threats to peace of Karahci. COAS said that Pakistan Army will render all necessary assistance to provincial government for capacity building and training of LEAs for long term effectiveness against organised crime and enduring peace for the City.

COAS arrived Karachi on a day long visit. He commenced day's proceedings by visiting Quaid's mausoleum. General Qamar Javed Bajwa laid floral wreath at the Mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam to pay homage to father of the nation and also offered Fateha. He has now reached Corps HQ where he will be briefed in detail about op and security issues.

Rawalpindi - December 14, 2016: 

Pakistan today conducted a successful test of an enhanced version of the indigenously developed Babur Cruise Missile. Babur Weapon System version - 2 incorporates advanced aerodynamics and avionics that can strike targets both at land and sea with high accuracy, at a range of 700 kilometers. It is a low flying, terrain hugging missile, which carries certain stealth features and is capable of carrying various types of warheads.

Equipped with state of the art navigational technologies of Terrain Contour Matching (TERCOM) and all time Digital Scene Matching & Area Co-relation (DSMAC) which enables it to engage various type of targets with pinpoint accuracy even in the absence of GPS navigation. Babur Weapon System is an important force multiplier for Pakistan’s strategic defence.

Today’s launch was witnessed by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, senior officers from Strategic Plans Division, Strategic Forces, scientists and engineers of strategic organizations. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee congratulated the scientists and engineers on achieving yet another milestone of great value and significance. He appreciated the technical prowess, dedication and commitment of scientists who contributed to the success of this launch.

Expressing his full confidence over the Strategic Command and Control System and the Strategic Forces’ operational preparedness, CJCSC stated  that this test further strengthens Pakistan’s Deterrence Capability. The President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan have congratulated the scientists and engineers on successful conduct of today’s missile test.
