COMMODORE SYED ASAD KARIM SI(M) OF PAKISTAN NAVY PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF REAR ADMIRAL

Commodore Syed Asad Karim SI(M) has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral .
 
Rear Admiral Syed Asad Karim was commissioned in Supply Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1984. He is a graduate of National Defence University, Islamabad and Royal Military College of Science UK. He holds Masters Degree in Defence Logistics Management from Cranfield University UK and Masters Degree in National Security & War Studies from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.

 His distinguished appointments include Commanding Officer Submarine Stores Depot, Commanding Officer Naval Stores Depot, Director Procurement (Navy) and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Works).  Presently, he is performing the duties of Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Supply) at NHQ.

In recognition of his meritorious services, he has been awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military).

Shamsheer-e-Bahr-VI, Pakistan Navy biennial war games gets underway after the opening session held at Karachi. General Rashad Mehmood Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah was also present on the occasion. Vice Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations), presented an overview of the war game outlining objectives set forth and concepts to be tried. He particularly highlighted the importance of ensuing impregnable seaward defence and the vital role of Pakistan Navy in the face of emerging challenges. He further added that being the tri-service event with representation from relevant Ministries, SHAHSHEER-E-BAHR-VI is a biennial exercise to try out various concepts which are then validated in subsequent Navy-wide field exercises before being incorporated into a naval strategy.

The Chief Guest, while speaking on the occasion, underlined the significance of war games in military planning process and mentioned that today the world is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. Therefore, regular conduct of war games to evolve new concepts and doctrines is all the more important. The Chief Guest lauded the realistic threat appraisal, exhaustive planning process and objective analysis presented by the Force Commanders. He remarked that with the operationalization of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar port, the responsibilities of Pakistan Navy will increase manifold, which he expected to be brought to fore during the conduct of war game.

The vent was attended by a large number of high ranking armed forces officers besides bureaucrats and reps of Federal Ministers.

Command and Staff Conference of Pakistan Navy concluded today at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad. The Conference was chaired by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah. Participants of the conference offered fateha for innocent Kashmiris martyred by Indian Forces due act of brutality. While showing solidarity and condemning Indian atrocities in Indian occupied Kashmir, the Naval Chief reiterated the resolve that entire Pakistani nation and Pakistan Navy stand with Kashmiri brethren and will never let them alone.
   
Later on, matters related to operational preparedness, developmental plans of Pakistan Navy and prevailing security situation were reviewed. Detailed briefings on various ongoing and future Pakistan Navy projects and plans as well as operational activities and security aspects at Gwadar Port particularly with respect of CPEC Project were also given to Chief of the Naval Staff.

While making an overall assessment of the prevalent security environment, Chief of the Naval Staff expressed satisfaction over operational preparedness of Pakistan Navy in the face of prevalent Maritime challenges. The Naval Chief while expressing Pakistan Navy’s resolve to ensure seaward defence of vital maritime infrastructure and protection of the maritime interests of Pakistan against all threats, reiterated that development of Gwadar Port will be a lynchpin for the overall success of CPEC Project. The Naval Chief reiterated to conduct Coastal security exercises regularly in coordination with other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and Organizations to acquire the highest degree of professionalism and interoperability.

The Naval Chief was also briefed that in anticipation of probable devastation likely to be caused due monsoon rains, highest priority will be accorded to Flood Relief and Rescue Operations by Pakistan Navy. All possible men and material/assets are ready for deployment to provide all out support to meet any exigency. The Naval Chief urged all to continue monitor the situation, remain vigilant and judiciously utilize all the assets once the situation so arises.

Command and Staff Conference is the apex decision making body of Pakistan Navy in which all Principal Staff Officers and Field Commanders undertake strategic review of Pakistan Navy’s Policies and Plans at least once in each quarter.

During the meeting, regional security issues and matters of mutual interest including border management mechanism along Pak-Afghanistan border and way forward for lasting peace in Afghanistan were discussed. Govt and Election Commission of AJK have requisitioned Pak Army troops for conduct of General Elections scheduled on 21 July 2016, under article 245 of the constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and section 4 and 5 of the Antiterrorism Act 1999(XXVll of 1997). Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lt.Gen Malik Zafar Iqbal held separate meetings with Chief Election Commissioner and Govt officials of AJK including Chief Secretary and Inspector General Police .                                         

Conduct of elections would remain responsibility of Election Commission and that of law and order with Civil Administration / Police in all 41 constituencies including 12 reserve seats across rest of the country. Army will assist Election Commission AJK in conduct of  elections. Army will also assist Govt of AJK in maintenance of law and order by deployment of troops inside and outside the polling stations.

Pakistan Navy’s sailor of Special Services Group showed nonpareil courage and rescued a tourist family at Deosai (Skardu).

Dilawar Hussain of Pakistan Navy Special Services Group rescued a tourist family which was on a visit to Deosai (Skardu). Incident happened when the jeep boarded with a family struck in fast stream of water while crossing the river. Dilawar Hussain, displaying the highest sense of chivalry rescued all the family members including the female and children in the jeep.

The tourist family and local of the area appreciated the valour and courage of the Pakistan Navy’s SSG(N), Dilawar Hussain.

Today Chief of Army Staff confirmed death sentences awarded to another 12 hardcore terrorists, who were involved in committing heinous offences related to terrorism, including killing of civilians, attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan and Law Enforcement Agencies, destruction of schools and communication infrastructure. These convicts were tried by military courts.


1.         Muhammad Qayyum Bacha S/O Mian Said Ghani.               The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in slaughter of officers and soldiers. He also destroyed a Girls Primary School and a Basic Health Unit by planting explosives. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 4 charges and awarded death sentence.

2.         Muhammad Asif S/O Anwar Hussain (Convict Number 1), Shahadat Hussain S/O Anwar Hussain (Convict Number 2) and Yasin S/O Muhammad Yar Hussain (Convict Number 3).     These three convicts were active members of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. They were involved in killing of civilians and attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in death of civilians. They were also in possession of fire arms and explosives. Convict number 1 and 2 were tried on 5 charges whereas convict number 3 was tried on 2 charges. All have been awarded death sentences.

3.         Muhammad Tayyab S/O Ameer Zada.     The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of soldiers and civilians. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

4.         Said Akbar S/O Liber Khan.         The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan which resulted in injuries and death of soldiers. He was also in possession of explosives. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 2 charges and awarded death sentence.

5.         Muhammd Ayaz S/O Muhammad Jan.  The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of soldier. He was also in possession of explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 2 charges and awarded death sentence.

6.         Barkat Ali S/O Abdul Ghaffar.      The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in killing of civilian and was also in possession of fire arms and explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

7.         Aziz Ur Rehman S/O Abdul Jalal.           The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in death of Police Constable. He was also involved in destruction of shops by planting improvised explosive devices and was also in possession of explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

8.         Hussan Dar S/O Muhammad Raheem. The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in killing of civilian and attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in death of Police Constables. He was also in possession of explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

9.         Ishaq S/O Abdul Hai.         The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan and Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in death of a Junior Commissioned Officer and injuries to police constable. He was also in possession of explosives.  The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 2 charges and awarded death sentence.

10.       Behram Sher S/O Khairan. The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan as well as destruction of a Girls Primary School which resulted in injuries and death of soldiers. He was also in possession of explosives.  The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

Corps Commanders Conference was held here today at the General Headquarters. General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff chaired the meeting. The forum took an in-depth review of internal security situation and discussed professional matters. COAS appreciated the relentless efforts of Intelligence and Law Enforcement Agencies towards ensuring peace and security during Eid days in the face of numerous threats.

External security situation was comprehensively discussed with particular emphasis on situation in Afghanistan. To scrutinize cross border movement and ensure   strict check on terrorist’s movement, the forum reviewed progress of measures being taken for effective border management.         

Condemning Indian brutal killings of innocent Kashmiri youth, COAS reiterated that the world needs to recognize the aspirations of Kashmiri people, their struggle for freedom and help resolve the long standing dispute for lasting amity in Kashmir and enduring peace in the region

REAR ADMIRAL SAJID WAZIR KHAN TAKES OVER AS COMMANDER LOGISTICS PAKISTAN NAVY

Rear Admiral Sajid Wazir Khan has taken over the Logistic Command of Pakistan Navy in an impressive change of Command ceremony held at PN Dockyard today. He took over the command from Rear Admiral Imdad Imam Jafri.

Rear Admiral Sajid Wazir Khan would now be Incharge of Logistic support to all PN units, Ships and establishments.  He would also be looking after all PN stores and Ammunition depots and would also be responsible for all logistic support/construction units and repair/ maintenance facilities of Pakistan Navy. 

A guard of honour was also presented to the newly appointed Commander Logistics during the ceremony. Later, Commanding Officers of the units under Command were also introduced to Commander Logistics.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of officers, civilians and sailors of Pakistan Navy.

NAVAL CHIEF VISITS FORWARD POSTS AT CREEKS-BORDERING INDIA

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah visited Pakistan Marines forward postsat Creeks area to meet deployed troops. During informal interaction with Marines, Naval Chief greeted them Eid and spent time with them.The Admiral was accompanied by Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Arif Ullah Hussaini.

During his visit, Naval Chief was briefed on the operational matters and efforts in hand to further augment security of the creeks area. While talking to the officers and men deployed on forward post near Indian border, the Admiral lauded their hard work, devotion and high morale in carrying out the onerous task of defending this critical frontier under very harshtopographic environment comprising marshes, swamps and unpredictable waterways. Naval Chief expressed his entire satisfaction on the operational preparedness of Pak Marines in creeks area.

"Abdul Sattar Edhi was beacon of hope for the poor and destitute of the society and his sad demise is an irreparable loss for humanity", The Naval Chief.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over the sad demise of renowned social worker and legendary humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi. He termed it an irreparable loss for the humanity. While eulogizing his services, Naval Chief said that the services and philanthropic work of late Abdul Sattar Edhi would be remembered forever by the entire nation.   He was beacon of hope for the poor and destitute of the society who earned worldwide recognition for his humanitarian work.

Earlier during the day, Naval Chief cancelled his planned commitments and left for Karachi where he attended the funeral of Mr Abdul Sattar Edhi.

The Naval chief prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul, and strength and patience to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Edhi sahib body was brought from Meetha Dar to National Stadium under Pakistan Navy escort and after funeral, his body was carried for burial at Edhi Village Sohrab Goth from Stadium, also under Pakistan Navy escort. A large number of Pakistan Navy senior officers and sailors also attended the funeral.
