A luncheon reception was held at the venue of Shakarparian parade ground for the participants of Joint Services Pakistan Day Parade. The President of Pakistan,  Mamnoon Hussain was the Chief Guest.

While appreciating the immaculate standard of mega event held on , the President said that holding of the parade after 7 years is reflection of our national resolve against terrorism and extremism. He said that holding of a successful parade has united the Nation which will indeed go a long way in projecting the positive image of the country. He paid rich tributes to Martyrs and injured for their supreme sacrifice for defence of the motherland. He also distributed mementos among parade participants for their efforts and dedication to make this event a success. 

Ceremony was attended by a large number of senior serving civil and military officers, organizers of 23 March parade.

General Sir Nicholas Carter, Chief of General Staff, United Kingdom called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif today. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including regional security situation and measures to further enhance defence cooperation between both the countries were discussed. He was also given a detailed briefing on operational and training aspects of Pakistan Army.

Earlier, on arrival at General Headquarters, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented Guard of Honour to the dignitary. General Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada.

Shaheen 3 Missile test

Pakistan today conducted a successful test launch of Shaheen-III Surface to Surface Ballistic Missile, capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 2750 Kms. The test launch was aimed at validating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system at maximum range.

The successful launch with its impact point in the Arabian Sea was witnessed by senior officers from Strategic Plans Division, strategic forces, scientists and engineers of strategic organizations.

Director General Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, while congratulating the scientists and engineers on achieving yet another milestone of historic significance, termed it a major step towards strengthening Pakistan's deterrence capability.

He appreciated the technical prowess, dedication and commitment of scientists who contributed whole heartedly to make this launch a success. He showed his full confidence over the Strategic Command and Control System and the Strategic Forces’ capability to safeguard security of the Mother Land against any aggression.

The successful test launch and achievement of this Range milestone has also been warmly appreciated by the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan who congratulated the scientists and engineers on their outstanding achievement.

General Raheel Sharif Chief of Army Staff (COAS) visits Corps HQ Peshawar. He was briefed in detail on security situation in KP/FATA, progress of ongoing operations; Zarb-e-Azb in NWA, Khyber and targeted IBOs. The only way in operations is way forward till total elimination of terrorists. Operations will ultimately result in better border management. Appreciated IBOs. COAS emphasized coordination amongst all agencies for dignified return of TDPs within time lines decided. Return to commence mid of March.

2nd group of APS Peshawar Students left last night for China for an educational cum recreational tour as part of rehabilitation programme. During the ten day long visit, students accompanied by  parents and teachers will visit major Chinese cities including Beijing,  Shenzhen, Gongzhour and Hongkong and  witness historical site.

Before their departure to China on Thursday,  Chinese Embassy in Islamabad had arranged a  reception for the APS students, their parents and teachers. Chinese hosts at the Embassy accorded a warm welcome to APS students at the reception. Major General Qi Huajun, Naval and Military attaché at Chinese Embssay while speaking on the occasion said that Pakistan and China are time tested friends. The people in China were deeply aggrieved after the APS terrorist attack and loss of innocent lives.  He said the visit  aims to express the resolve of Chine people that they will always stand with their Pakistani brethren in thick and thin.

It may be mentioned that 1st group of students after their visit to China had arrived back to Peshawar last week.
